Biography for Lora Hnat, LMFT, CHt

I have always felt called to help others. Over the last 30 years, I have studied many mind and body healing modalities such as Music Therapy, Guided Imagery, Reiki, and Integrated Energy Therapy (IET).

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 149342) in California and hold a masters degree in Counseling and a bachelors degree in Music Therapy in addition to my hypnotherapy certification. I use an integrative approach to therapy, weaving all of the knowledge and training that I have gained into a uniquely transformative experience for my clients. At this time, I offer sessions that are mainly talk therapy with hypnotherapy and guided imagery techniques woven into them, as appropriate.

I work with my clients both systematically and intuitively. My formal education allows me to work from a scientific perspective, using evidence-based practices to help my clients to understand and to resolve their issues. I combine these learned skills with my natural intuition and empathy to create sessions that are tailored to the needs of each client.

I am a guide who supports my clients as they find the answers they are seeking. There is nothing I enjoy more than witnessing a client experience that “a-ha!” moment as they discover solutions and bring their subconscious beliefs into line with their conscious mind to create a life that supports their desires.

I am currently accepting new telehealth clients who are located in California.

Experience

I work from a trauma-informed perspective to create a safe, nurturing, warm environment for clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and trauma from childhood neglect and/or abuse. I also specialize in grief and loss. I have received specialized training to help support those in LGBTQIA+ community and I have undergone cultural competency trainings.

I work with adults who feel stuck in patterns that are preventing them from moving forward in life. I help my clients to identify and process the stories that they tell themselves about who they are and about what they are capable of achieving. I believe that every behavior has a reason driving it and that reason is usually an unmet need.

Using a mixture of talk therapy, imagery, and hypnotherapy, I can help you to learn self-compassion and to nurture the parts of you that are hurting and need to be heard and healed.
