Biography for Melissa Gentry, PsyD, CCHt, MA
I enjoy working from a person-centered and customized mind-body wellness approach, recognizing the uniqueness of each individual. My professional experience encompasses working with a wide range of concerns, including neuropsychological challenges such as Anxiety, ADHD, Depression, life stress, goal setting, marital/relationship issues, sex and intimacy challenges, panic disorder, Bipolar disorder, mood dysregulation, Trauma/PTSD, codependency, weight-loss, and addiction.
My therapeutic toolkit encompasses a diverse array of approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Imago, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am enthusiastic about incorporating cutting-edge technologies into treatment, staying aligned with the latest neuroscientific research, with a particular focus on Neurofeedback and Biofeedback.
I hold a doctorate in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. I also earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Additionally, I specialize in sex and couples' therapy and hold certification as a Certified Advanced Tantra Educator. Furthermore, I am Certified in CBT-TF (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – Trauma Focused).
Over the past decade, I have dedicated myself to the study of somatic healing and energy work. My journey has taken me to train with renowned experts, including Taoist Master Mantak Chia in Chiang Mai, Thailand (focused on Energy Mastery and Healing, emphasizing the connection between mind, body, and spirit through psychological and somatic healing). I have also studied under Lynda Caesara, delving into the Elements of Energy Mastery, with a specific emphasis on emotional and psychological regulation as well as healing and aiding others in their healing journey. My qualifications extend to being a certified Yoga Instructor (200-Hour Hatha and Tantra Yoga), a Certified International Practitioner of Holistic Medicine, and Hot Yoga Certified in Los Angeles, California. I also studied Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) with Dr. Dan Siegel.
Furthermore, my pursuit of knowledge has led me to study Buddhism for Psychotherapy at the Vajra Yogini Institute in the South of France. I have also explored Drama Therapy for Addiction, focusing on healing the effects of trauma, shame, and regret at DTI (Drama Therapy Institute). Additionally, I had the privilege of studying with Charu Morgan, a renowned expert in tantra, women’s pleasure, and mindfulness meditation.
My dedication to holistic well-being and my commitment to ongoing learning serve as the cornerstones of my therapeutic practice.
