Biography for Michael A. Kamins, MA, MFT, CCHt

I have worked in the behavioral sciences as a clinician and educator since 2007, working in private practice and in community counseling as a Certified Hypnotherapist and Depth Psychotherapist (MFT). I have taught at HMI College of Hypnotherapy as a senior-staff instructor and developed the first ever Ericksonian Hypnosis Certification Course for the American Hypnosis Association.

Currently, I am providing hypnotherapy and NLP coaching sessions for adult individuals in private practice on Zoom and in-office in West Hollywood, California. I also provide consultations for hypnotherapy students and educational content on parapsychology, archetypal psychology, and hypnosis.

As a Depth Psychologist, my practice of hypnotherapy uniquely considers the unconscious to be what psychiatrist C.G. Jung called the “primary matrix” – the vital source of consciousness itself and a reservoir of personal and transpersonal resources. Hypnotherapy is a powerful method to tap this potential for creative problem-solving.

Losing connection to the unconscious psyche, the Greek word for “Soul,” is the cause of many afflictions in the contemporary world. This connection may be blocked by limiting beliefs, habits, and emotions. Hypnotherapy is a reliable and gentle method for removing these subconscious blocks and activating the natural healing and transformative processes of the unconscious.

My method of using hypnotherapy from the perspectives of depth and transpersonal psychology, while utilizing NLP and neural-entrainment technologies, is a synergistic tool for promoting mind-body wellness, behavioral change, and personal development. I look forward to assisting you.

Experience

I graduated with Honors from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) in 2007 where I started my private practice while working as a hypnosis educator for HMI’s Distance Learning department and teaching promotional HMI classes on Guided Imagery and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Certified at the master level by the American Hypnosis Association and NLP TransWorld, I was an assistant NLP Trainer for Practitioner and Master Practitioner trainings before becoming a senior-staff instructor at HMI in 2015.

My educational background includes a Master of Arts Degree with Academic Honors from Pacifica Graduate Institute (Carpinteria, California) in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology.

As an MFT, my clinical training internships included Maple Counseling Center of Beverly Hills where I was supervised in Psychodynamic Therapy, and the Coldwater Counseling Center of Studio City with supervision in Jungian and Depth Psychotherapy. I have conducted both hypnotherapy and psychotherapy sessions with a diversity of individuals since 2007, remaining committed to helping each person utilize unconscious resources and achieving behavioral goals.
