Biography for Tanit Phoenix Lourd, CHt

I am a Certified Hypnotherapist specializing in sports hypnosis and mental preparation for athletes. I help athletes work on confidence, concentration and the mental challenges that can affect their performance in training and competition.

My focus includes competition nerves, overthinking, fear of failure, self-critical thinking and rebuilding confidence after setbacks. Sessions are tailored to each athlete’s goals, with attention to the specific moments when pressure or self-doubt makes it difficult to trust their preparation.

My approach combines hypnotherapy, guided imagery and mental rehearsal with techniques drawn from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Depending on the individual’s needs, I may also incorporate Resource State Hypnosis, Parts Therapy, Mental and Emotional Release, EFT/Tapping and breathing techniques.

Born and raised in South Africa, I built an international career in modelling and acting before moving into hypnotherapy. That experience gave me a personal understanding of preparation, public scrutiny and performing under pressure.

I graduated from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute with High Honors and received its Academic Achievement Award. My training includes certification in Hypnosis and Sports Performance through the American Hypnosis Association.

My aim is to help athletes develop mental skills that complement their physical training and coaching, so they can approach their sport with greater confidence, focus and enjoyment.

Experience

My background combines an international career in modelling and acting with extensive training in hypnotherapy. Performing in demanding environments gave me a personal understanding of preparation, public scrutiny and maintaining composure under pressure. I bring that perspective to my focus on sports hypnosis and mental preparation for athletes.

My approach draws on hypnotherapy, guided imagery, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Resource State Hypnosis and Parts Therapy. Depending on the athlete’s needs, I may also incorporate Mental and Emotional Release, EFT/Tapping and breathing techniques.

Sessions focus on the situations each athlete finds challenging, such as managing nerves before competition, maintaining concentration, responding constructively to mistakes and rebuilding confidence after setbacks. Guided imagery and mental rehearsal provide opportunities to practise these responses, while resource-based techniques draw on previous experiences of confidence and capability.

I take an individual, collaborative approach, shaping sessions around the athlete’s goals and personal strengths. My aim is to support mental preparation that complements physical training and coaching, helping athletes develop greater self-trust, focus and enjoyment in their sport.
