Getting Comfortable with Silence

Presented By: Todd Simon

Todd Simon

The awkward pause. The fear of nothingness. We all like to fill our minds and sessions with words, concepts and talk. And yet, it is in silence and stillness that often times integration and change occur. The space for change. As hypnotherapists we know that a big part of our job is to listen to our clients, and also sometimes to overload them with message units. But there is a transitionary process of growth. Similar to how we need rest and sleep to heal, we also need silence to grow.

Getting comfortable with silence, as a person and as a hypnotherapist, is essential. Allowing our clients to be okay with silence will often allow them to go deeper. Oftentimes, we have well-crafted memories and defense mechanisms that arise as we tell our story - over and over again. Silence allows for new awareness and perceptions. In this presentation, you will learn the importance of silence in the healing arts and meditation, and studies that show the physiological benefits. Explore the concept of empty space in art, akin to silence. You will be led through some exercises to see that silence is actually golden!
