Introduction to Motivational Interviewing
Presented By: Randy Kasper
Join HMI’s AOS Professor, Dr. Randy Kasper in a fun, clear and easy to digest introduction to this game changing addition to your Hypnotherapy toolbox. One of the most difficult issues for many therapists is encountering a client who comes seeking change and then resists all efforts to achieve that change. This “ambivalence” represents a client’s experience of simultaneously wanting to make a change while also feeling reluctant to do so.
Motivational interviewing, supported by over 200 randomized controlled trials, is a collaborative, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavioral change by helping clients to notice and resolve ambivalence.
Randy Kasper, PhD, LCSW, BCD, has been a Professor at California State University Graduate School of Social Work for 15 years where she specializes in clinical practice and internship supervision. Dr. Kasper also maintains a private psychotherapy practice.
