- Google searches reveal a number of unlicensed individuals advertising hypnotherapy services in Oregon.
- We are aware that back in 2017 several attempts were made to propose legislation in Oregon that, if passed into law, might have restricted or limited the ability of hypnotherapists to work in Oregon. The first included “hypnotherapist” in a list of professions categorized as “alternative behavioral health providers” that would have been subject to standards and requirements to practice, a required annual registration and fee, a possible exam, etc. The second attempt involved a committee created by an Oregon State Senator to explore regulation/registration of “unlicensed therapists.” Both attempts failed and no legislation restricting hypnotherapists was enacted.
