Substance Abuse

Presented By: George J. Kappas, MA, LMFT, CCHt

George J. Kappas

Substance abuse is a pervasive issue in society today. It would be almost impossible to be in private practice for any length of time without encountering clients who may or may not realize they have this issue. Using humor and personal experiences, HMI Director George Kappas, M.A., M.F.T., provides a frank presentation of what the role of the Hypnotherapist should be in the treatment of substance abuse.

I think it was great. To be honest, I was reading many alternatives some putting down AA and was getting a little mixed up. This set me back on the correct track.

Very interesting. I will surely have an addiction to "treat" so to speak. And I was not sure of what position to stand with this topic. I'm now okay with what I can do with addicts. I cannot treat them but I will try to get them in group therapy, and help them in hypnosis with the "WANT POWER". Great, great trick! Thank you George.

This Substance Abuse class was VERY good. George is always great! I like his humor/with his straightforwardness! I have many addicts that come in and some are in AA. Others that have went a couple of times, say how much they hate it because they don't want to hear other people's problems. Now, I understand why it is so important for us to guide them to treatment. We are NOT the treatment. This gave me so much insight to 'why' AA is so important. I believe having 'knowledge' of AA and how it works... knowing the 20 questions to ask... etc. is the key! Thanks for another wonderful class!
