Produced by the American Hypnosis Association, this short but fact filled documentary, is the first step in your HMI College of Hypnotherapy journey.
This online course also includes a workbook, and online quiz which serves as a prerequisite, for your application to HMI’s Accredited Hypnotherapy Training.
It is recommended to have your workbook open for reference, while taking the online quiz.

Honestly it was informative and a great way to get to know the history but was it really so necessary to need to remember the history in such intricate details moving forward? Honestly, in a week I'll forget the majority other than some of the key notes. I'll forget the names of the people, where they lived, and what they coined each thing. What did stick was the main history and how it evolved, not who was involved or where. It started in Egypt stuck, and a few other things that were interesting to me.

The lesson was interesting, and I really enjoyed learning about the history of hypnotherapy. It gave me a deeper understanding of how hypnosis evolved from ancient practices like Temple Sleep in Egypt to more scientific approaches in the 19th and 20th centuries. Discovering how pioneers like Abbé Faria, James Braid, and the Nancy School shifted hypnosis from mystical explanations to psychological phenomena was fascinating. I also appreciated learning about how hypnosis was used practically, such as during World War II to treat soldiers with combat stress. Overall, it gave me a new appreciation for how hypnotherapy developed as both an art and a science, blending cultural, medical, and psychological elements over time.
