Biography for Barbara Ann Devico, CMH

Barbara DeVico brings a diverse background to her company, Healthy Body Healthy Mind. This experience helps facilitate her ability to communicate and understand the multiple and diverse backgrounds of her clients who seek her help.

As a child, Barbara survived a life threatening and very rare spinal tumor, which led to unremitting pain throughout most of her childhood. As a result of this experience, she has an uncanny understanding of pain, especially that of children. Barbara has successfully recovered from post traumatic stress disorder which helps her to relate to the many diverse experiences of her clients. Diversity, understanding, and empathy are main ingredients in Barbara's work to facilitate the healing process of her clients.

Barbara has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Medical Social Work from California State University at Long Beach. She has also completed graduate work in Educational Psychology, and received her Special Education teaching credentials.

Barbara DeVico has spent the last eight years working with clients experiencing issues with many different symptoms from post traumatic stress, compulsive eating, smoking, anxiety, fears, exam anxiety, addictions and others. She spent two years working at an eating disorders clinic helping clients build and maintain a healthy relationship with food. The years of experience working with all these complex issues, common to many people, have shown Barbara the consistent thread running throughout these symptoms; which are poor self esteem and feelings of unworthiness and self hate.

Teaching people to connect with feelings that they have never been accessed before is the focus of her hypnotherapy and the beginning for people to start their healing journey. Hypnotherapy was the primary tool Barbara used to recover from her post traumatic stress disorder, as well and all the underlying symptoms that had prevailed in her life as well.

Barbara has completed her Hypnosis and Master Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) training from A Bennett/Stellar University, The American Institute of Hypnotherapy,The American Board of Hypnotherapy, Holmes Center of Hypnotherapy, International Hypnosis Federation, New Focus Institute for Hypnotherapy and the Hypnosis Motivation Institute.

She is also a certified Health and Wellness Coach through the Wellness Forum. Additional certifications include Time Line Therapy, Life Coach, Reiki and Nutrition, as well as several specialty certifications in Imagery, pain control, fibromyalgia, IBS, hypertension, weight management and smoking cessation.
