Biography for Cynthia Monroe, CHt
Cynthia presently divides her time between her home in Vermont and helping family in Texas. She grew up skiing and hiking in Alaska, and earned her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
She worked for the Gwich’in Athabascan Tribe in Alaska for five years before completing an MFA in Writing/Poetry at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Her three years directing a Compassionate Listening project on Alaska resource issues led her to a deep curiosity about worldviews – which has also informed her work as a college writing instructor.
Cynthia’s passions include two grown children, one aloof Shiba Inu, friends and community, art, extravagantly healthy cooking, wildlife-friendly gardening, the out-of-doors, audiobooks, and words of all shapes and sizes.
